Position Overview

Colonial Life is seeking an entrepreneurial, high-performance Sales Agency Owner to lead and grow the Chicagoland market. This role is designed for a proven sales leader who thrives on building people, developing culture, driving revenue, and creating long-term market growth through both direct sales and broker distribution channels.

The ideal candidate is a coach first, salesperson second, and leader always. They possess a strong track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent while consistently delivering results. This individual will lead a team of sales professionals, expand broker relationships, and partner with business owners and HR leaders to provide meaningful employee benefits solutions.


What You'll Do

Lead & Develop People

  • Recruit, onboard, and develop high-performing sales representatives and sales leaders.
  • Create a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular coaching, field training, and performance development sessions.
  • Mentor future leaders and build a sustainable leadership pipeline.
  • Drive engagement, retention, and professional development across the organization.

Drive Sales Growth

  • Lead market expansion efforts throughout the Indianapolis area.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies that consistently exceed production goals.
  • Maintain a strong personal presence in the field alongside your team.
  • Monitor performance metrics and implement action plans to maximize results.
  • Foster a high-energy, results-oriented sales culture.

Grow Broker & Direct Sales Channels

  • Establish and strengthen relationships with brokers, consultants, and strategic partners.
  • Drive new business through both direct employer sales and broker-driven opportunities.
  • Collaborate with brokers to identify opportunities and deliver customized solutions.
  • Support sales teams in navigating complex opportunities and large-case strategies.

Business Leadership

  • Operate the agency with an ownership mindset.
  • Develop market growth plans and execute against long-term objectives.
  • Manage profitability, forecasting, recruiting activity, and business development efforts.
  • Represent Colonial Life throughout the local business community.


What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of successful B2B sales experience.
  • 3 years of sales leadership, coaching, or management experience.
  • Demonstrated success recruiting, developing, and leading sales professionals.
  • Experience building strategic business relationships.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to lead through influence, accountability, and vision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Benefits, insurance, payroll, PEO, HR technology, or financial services experience.
  • Broker relationship management experience.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams.
  • Track record of building and scaling a sales organization.
