Description
The role of the PT Custodian is to clean and maintain campus buildings and to perform other custodial duties relative to assigned area of responsibility.
The PT Custodian receives supervision from the Senior Custodian.
Examples of Duties
- Employee will be responsible for maintaining all floors, windows, furniture, whiteboards in the facilities.
- Duties include, but are not limited to, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, stripping and waxing floors, dusting, cleaning, emptying trash, and cleaning the college vans.
- The building custodian should be able to move furniture/equipment as needed to clean or rearrange classrooms and perform other custodial work as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or the equivalent.
- One year of custodial experience.
- Employee must have a valid driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to:
- Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. and climb ladders.
- Ability to operate maintenance equipment, including a vacuum cleaner.
- Using power equipment to buff and restore floors and shampoo carpets; dusting, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash and cleaning restrooms; performing routine maintenance to custodial equipment; frequent interruptions, changing priorities, heavy duty lifting, and occasional work in inclement weather; exposure to cleaning agents, potential electrical hazards, and various types of cleaning equipment.
- Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
- Considerable physical activity.
- Requires physical work, i.e. moderate to heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
- Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
