Postdoctoral Position in Membrane Protein Biology & Ion Channel Physiology — Furukawa Lab, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL), New York
The Furukawa lab at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) https://furukawalab.cshl.edu/ is seeking an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Fellow to join our multidisciplinary team exploring the fundamental biology of membrane proteins and the physiology of ion channels. Our lab combines cutting-edge approaches in structural biology, biophysical techniques (e.g., electrophysiology), and neuroscience approaches to uncover how these essential molecular machines function in health and disease.
What We Do - Our research integrates a broad suite of state-of-the-art techniques, including:
- Cryo-EM and X-ray crystallography
- Electrophysiology (e.g., patch clamp) and advanced imaging
- Protein engineering and biochemical reconstitution
- Antibody isolation and BCR sequencing from animal/human tissues
CSHL provides outstanding scientific resources, including a Titan Krios 300 kV cryo-EM equipped with a K3–GIF detector, premier crystallography platforms, and exceptional facilities for FACS sorting, phage and yeast display, proteomics, genomics, transcriptomics, neuroimaging, light microscopy, and animal studies.

Who Should Apply - Candidates should hold (or expect to obtain within ~ 6 months) a Ph.D. in one of the following areas:
- Structural biology (cryo-EM, crystallography, cryo-ET)
- Molecular neuroscience/electrophysiology
- Membrane protein biochemistry or biophysics
- Molecular immunology
Prior experience in one or more of these areas is highly desirable.
