Position Description
Join Our Team at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory! Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL), a world-renowned biomedical research institution, is seeking a full-time Groundskeeper to support the upkeep and beautification of our campus. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with a passion for landscaping, horticulture, and working outdoors in a collaborative environment. As part of our Facilities team, you will play a key role in maintaining our grounds year-round—helping ensure our campus remains a safe, welcoming, and inspiring place for groundbreaking research.
Position Responsibilities
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: A working knowledge of horticulture and two years groundskeeping experience is preferred.
SKILLS: Must be able to operate equipment generally used in grounds maintenance. Some knowledge of landscaping techniques.

Position Responsibilities
- Mows, weeds, edges, and otherwise maintains lawns.
- Trims, transplants, and maintains shrubs, hedges, and trees.
- Removes snow and ice from roads and walkways.
- Excavates and fills in trenches, pits, and wells under direct supervision.
- Operates mowers, trimmers, snow blowers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, and other types of landscaping equipment.
- Operates heavy equipment such as backhoes, tractors, and forklifts.
- Applies fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides under direction of the Grounds Foreman.
- Plants trees, garden beds, and shrubbery under the direction of the Grounds Foreman.
- Performs other general labor tasks as assigned by the Grounds Foreman.
