We are looking for a Senior Designer I to join our Los Angeles office. This role blends creativity and technical expertise with strong business acumen to produce functionally beautiful spaces for our clients. The ideal candidate brings broad design skills, a background in architecture or interior design, and the ability to generate innovative, holistic design concepts. This position requires in-person collaboration Monday-Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate as part of a team on interior design projects spanning programming, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, and construction documentation
- Develop innovative design concepts that are practical, aesthetic, safe, and reflective of project purpose and function - meeting client goals on schedule and within budget
- Sculpt interior spaces as a holistic experience, including specification of furniture, lighting, artwork, and finishes/materials
- Participate in the selection and presentation of FF&E (furniture, fixtures & equipment), color palettes, and lighting
- Generate finish plans, specifications, and material selections for construction
- Provide design support and documentation through concept execution
- Collaborate with external consultants, product representatives, and fabricators
- Lead day-to-day project coordination, prioritizing deadlines and managing communication with clients and consultants
- Communicate design ideas through 2D and 3D presentation and design drawings
- Support Construction Administration by responding to RFIs, change orders, and shop drawing reviews
- Assist Project Managers and clients with subcontracting fabrication, installation, and procurement of materials and furnishings
- Participate in client meetings and owner presentations with senior leadership
- Contribute to architectural contract preparation and fee/liability calculations
- Align project deliverables with design intent in team meetings
- Mentor and guide junior team members
- Incorporate integrated sustainable design solutions and promote green workplace practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited university
- Environmental accreditation preferred
- 10 years of experience in an architectural practice, with a focus on hospitality interior design and full-phase project management
- Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, and other design software (AutoCAD, Rhino, 3D Studio Max, Grasshopper)
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Strong knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selection, and specifications
- Strong graphics and visualization skills to communicate design concepts effectively
- Understanding of project work plans, schedules, staffing, and budgets
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects and consistently meet deadlines
- Collaborative team player who can also work independently
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
