A growing SaaS business is looking to hire a Controller to lead the Accounting Team. The Controller will be responsible for the financial health of the business, creating SOP's, and building the Accounting function. Working directly with senior leadership, the Controller will be critical in making long-term decisions for the business.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
- Own the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage billing, collections, and revenue recognition (ASC 606 compliance).
- Prepare internal financial statements, dashboards, and budget vs. actual reporting for leadership.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, review work for accuracy and completeness.
- Partner with the leadership on forecasting and cash flow management.
- Assist in preparing for board reporting and investor updates.
- Oversee compliance with state, federal, and SaaS-specific tax and regulatory requirements.
- Manage or support annual audits and liaise with external tax and audit firms.
- Implement or optimize accounting systems, processes, and internal controls. Evaluate and maintain accounting tools and platforms
- Serve as a key point of contact for financial inquiries from internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Coordinate with HR, Legal, and department leads on cross-functional matters.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Previous experience in Public Accounting required. Big Four experience is preferred.
- CPA designation is required.
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience; including 5 years in B2B SaaS ($5MM ARR)
- Exceptional analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail
- A self-starter with strong intellectual curiosity - needs to be comfortable working independently and building structure in a fast-moving environment.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Proven experience managing financial audits and developing robust internal controls
- Required proficiency in Excel, QuickBooks Online, Stripe, AI cowork tools (e.g., Claude).
- Prefer strong understanding of GAAP and SaaS accounting best practices, including revenue recognition standards (ASC 606)
Salary : $200,000 - $225,000
