Assistant Project Manager - Construction Commercial Interiors & General Contracting
Union County, NJ | In-Person | Full-Time | $60,000 - $90,000

What we need: An ambitious Assistant Project Manager ready to learn the full lifecycle of commercial construction alongside experienced PMs. You'll support project execution from estimating through closeout, develop your skills across every phase of the job, and grow into running your own work. What You'll Do
- Support PMs across the project lifecycle - estimating, bidding, buyout, construction, and closeout
- Assist with takeoffs and budget development; build toward bidding independently
- Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and change events
- Help process AIA billings, lien waivers, and subcontractor and vendor invoices
- Maintain project schedules and project documentation
- Attend project, subcontractor, and owner meetings; take and distribute meeting notes
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Support bonding, insurance, and contract front-end review
- Help drive the punchlist and closeout process through final turnover
- Build relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors
Requirements
- 1-3 years of construction project management or assistant PM experience (GC-side preferred)
- Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and CSI format
- Exposure to AIA billings, lien waivers, bonding, or insurance - full mastery not required
- OSHA 10 certification
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- In-person, Springfield NJ - no remote or hybrid
Preferred
- Degree in construction management, engineering, or architecture
- Internship or co-op experience with a general contractor
- Exposure to commercial interiors, banking, healthcare, corporate, retail, or industrial sectors
- OSHA 30 certification
- Conversational Spanish
- Procore or similar construction management software proficiency
