Your Role:
The Claims Adjuster will be responsible for managing an inventory of claims related to property damage, auto liability, and workers’ compensation claims. The Claims Adjuster will manage claims while leveraging data to identify trends, assess risk exposure, and support strategic decision-making across the organization.
Reporting to the Corporate Claims and Litigation Counsel, this position plays a critical role in protecting Coastal Waste & Recycling’s assets by ensuring timely and accurate claims handling and proactive risk mitigation. This role interacts with claimants, providers, attorneys, and other third parties throughout the claim’s management process.
- Investigate claims involving accidents and workplace injuries, and obtain relevant facts to determine coverage, loss, and liability.
- Analyze claims data to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities to reduce risk and mitigate loss exposure.
- Work with insurance carriers, third-party administrators (TPAs), and legal representatives to resolve claims efficiently and effectively.
- Coordinate with internal departments (Safety, Operations, HR) to ensure claims are accurately reported and processed.
- Track claim status, monitor reserves, and update internal claim files and systems with current information.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to streamline claims workflows, improve accuracy, and reduce processing time.
- Assesses actual damages associated with claims and conducts negotiations, within assigned authority limits, to settle claims.
- Maintain organized records and documentation throughout the claims process.
- Assist in evaluating and documenting property damage claims.
- Analyzes estimates, invoices, and reports to determine accurate claim values.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management or related field or a combination of Associate’s Degree and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in claims adjustment, general insurance, or formal claims training.
- Professional insurance certifications such as an Associate in Claims (AIC) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) are highly desirable.
- Must possess and maintain a Florida Adjuster’s License.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
