We are supporting a leading utility in the Northeast Georgia region (Hartwell) that is actively expanding its capital project portfolio across power generation assets. They are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support development and construction activities across multiple projects in various phases of execution.
This role is fully on-site in Hartwell, GA Monday through Friday.
This position will work directly alongside the Owner’s Project Management team, supporting coordination across engineering, construction, and project controls to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Support early-stage project development including scope definition, constructability input, and engineering coordination
- Assist in coordinating activities between engineering teams, project management, contractors, and field personnel
- Participate in engineering meetings, constructability reviews, and planning sessions
- Review and interpret drawings and specifications across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines
- Support planning and tracking of projects within the Capital Project Hopper
- Assist with contractor coordination and communication during execution phases
- Track project schedules, milestones, and identify risks or delays with mitigation support
- Support quality assurance and compliance with engineering design and construction standards
- Assist with documentation management (RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, project records)
- Support change order development and contractor proposal evaluation
- Provide reporting, schedule tracking, and coordination support to Project Managers and Construction Managers
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline (or equivalent experience)
- 5 years of experience supporting engineering-driven construction or infrastructure projects
- Experience in power generation, substation, or other utility capital projects
- Understanding of RFIs, submittals, scheduling, and construction documentation processes
- Ability to coordinate across engineering, construction, and project management teams
- Exposure to construction quality standards and engineering-driven project delivery
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
