What are the responsibilities and job description for the Geographic Information Systems Analyst position at Coalesce Management Consulting?
GIS Analyst β Utility / Economic Development (Atlanta, GA)
We are currently partnering with a leading utilities organization in the Southeast that is driving large scale infrastructure and economic development initiatives across the region.
This is a unique opportunity for a GIS professional who wants to be directly involved in projects that shape how communities grow, how businesses expand, and how critical infrastructure is planned and delivered.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering, GIS, and real world impact. You will be working on high visibility projects supporting site selection, land development, and utility planning efforts across multiple regions.
The position requires a hybrid presence in Atlanta, with flexibility built into the schedule and limited in-state travel.
What you will be doing:
You will be responsible for leveraging GIS tools to support engineering and economic development initiatives, turning complex spatial data into actionable insights. This includes developing site maps, performing land and site analysis, and supporting decision making for new and expanding industrial and commercial projects.
You will work closely with engineering teams, project managers, and external stakeholders to evaluate potential development sites, create conceptual layouts, and support long term infrastructure planning.
A key part of this role is helping visualize opportunities through GIS driven models, mapping, and presentation materials that support investment and development decisions.
What we are looking for:
We are targeting candidates with a strong background in GIS within utility, engineering, or land development environments.
Experience with tools such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar platforms is highly valued. Exposure to site development, infrastructure planning, or utility projects will stand out immediately.
Candidates should be comfortable working cross functionally, communicating technical information clearly, and managing multiple priorities in a fast paced project environment.
Why this role stands out:
This is not a back office GIS role. You will be directly tied to major projects that influence regional growth, infrastructure investment, and long term planning.
You will gain exposure to high level stakeholders, real decision making environments, and projects that have visible impact across communities.
