Duties
- Coordinate and dispatch freight shipments using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine to ensure timely deliveries.
- Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve overall transportation efficiency.
- Manage shipping and receiving processes, including freight documentation, data entry, and inventory updates via AS400 and other logistics software.
- Supervise fleet management activities, including maintenance scheduling and compliance with safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, and internal teams using multi-line phone systems, ensuring clear and professional phone etiquette.
- Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and enhanced service delivery.
- Oversee dispatching operations by coordinating schedules, managing driver assignments, and resolving issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, delivery statuses, and incident reports while ensuring compliance with company policies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in transportation management or logistics roles with a strong understanding of supply chain processes.
- Proficiency in GIS, GPS tracking systems, transportation management systems (TMS), including Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
- Excellent analysis skills to interpret data related to freight movements, fleet performance, and route optimization.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to handle phone interactions professionally and clearly.
- Familiarity with shipping & receiving procedures, freight documentation, and data entry accuracy.
- Knowledge of fleet management practices, dispatching procedures, and 3PL (third-party logistics) operations.
- Ability to operate multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining high levels of phone etiquette.
- Experience with logistics software such as AS400 or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems like Oracle TMS.
