Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented clerk to coordinate and manage towing operations efficiently. The ideal candidate will be responsible for dispatching tow trucks, coordinating with drivers, and ensuring timely service delivery. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with transportation management systems, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The clerk plays a vital role in maintaining smooth operations within our fleet management and logistics services.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with drivers, customers, and service providers via multi-line phone systems and two-way communication tools.
- Monitor fleet locations using GPS technology to optimize routes and ensure efficient service delivery.
- Manage data entry related to dispatch activities, vehicle status, and service records accurately within transportation management platforms like towbooks and towlien.
- Maintain effective communication with clients regarding ETA updates, service issues, and other inquiries utilizing phone etiquette and strong communication skills.
- Oversee shipping & receiving processes related to towing services when applicable.
- Collaborate with logistics teams on freight movement, supply chain coordination, and transportation planning to support overall operational goals.
- Utilize analysis skills to evaluate dispatch performance metrics and identify areas for process improvement.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies during all dispatch activities.
Experience
- Prior experience in dispatching within transportation or logistics industries is preferred.
- Familiarity with GIS, GPS technology, and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of fleet management, freight operations, shipping & receiving procedures, and supply chain logistics is beneficial.
- Strong analysis skills combined with proficiency in data entry and multi-line phone systems are essential.
- Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette and the ability to handle high-pressure situations effectively.
- Experience working with transportation planning tools like towbooks and towlien platforms will be advantageous. Pay: $8.00 - $10.00 per hour
