Primary Purpose
To assist the physical education teacher (s) as assigned. To assist the teachers and students as requested.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Paraprofessional Certification Preferred
Current CPR/First Aid Preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
Ability to work cooperatively with others and maintain a positive attitude in the work environment
Ability to use good judgement in problem-solving and decision-making
Use time productively, consistently arrive on time
Ability to follow district policies and procedures
Ability to accept supervisory direction and desire to improve job skills
Ability to demonstrate tact, courtesy and helpfulness in dealing with staff, students parents, and visitors in the school
Experience
Prior experience working with children, preferably in an instructional setting or gym
setting
Major Responsibilities And Duties
Supervisory duties as assigned by the principal and/or physical education teacher.
Equipment Used
Copier, personal computer, audio visual equipment, smartboard, physical education equipment
Working Conditions
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Must be able to control students. Standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting during the majority of the day. Classes will be outside during times of heat and cold.

Major Responsibilities And Duties
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of skills
- Assists physical education teacher with putting out and picking up equipment for each class.
- Remind physical education students of the gym rules and enforce consequences for inappropriate behavior.
- Be visible and walking around the gym monitoring student behavior and safety.
- Supervise and assist with supervision during class and between classes in the gym, outside or
- It may be necessary for the Physical Education Aide to maintain the classroom procedures of the Physical Education Teacher in the event of the teacher's absence (with the assistance of a substitute teacher).
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of rules, regulations, and practices.
- Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor and/or Superintendent.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
