Position Summary
The Shipper / Receiver is responsible for the accurate receipt, inspection, storage, and shipment of materials, components, and finished goods within the facility. This role ensures that incoming and outgoing shipments are processed efficiently, inventory records remain accurate, and materials move through the facility in accordance with operational, quality, and safety standards.
The Shipper / Receiver works closely with production, quality, purchasing, and logistics teams to maintain proper material flow and support on-time delivery to customers.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping Operations
- Prepare, package, and ship customer orders according to company and carrier specifications.
- Verify order accuracy against packing lists, sales orders, and shipping documentation.
- Generate shipping labels, bills of lading, and other required transport documents.
- Coordinate shipments using common carriers, freight providers, or company transportation.
- Ensure shipments are staged, loaded, and secured properly for safe transport.
Receiving Operations
- Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Inspect incoming materials for damage, defects, or discrepancies.
- Record receipt of goods into inventory systems (ERP/WMS).
- Label and route materials to appropriate storage or production areas.
- Communicate discrepancies or damaged goods to purchasing or management.
Inventory & Material Control
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper documentation of all transactions.
- Assist with cycle counts and periodic inventory audits.
- Ensure materials are stored in designated locations following warehouse organization standards.
- Support material movement between warehouse and production areas.
Documentation & Systems
- Accurately input data into ERP or inventory management systems.
- Maintain shipping and receiving records in accordance with company procedures.
- Prepare reports related to shipping volumes, receiving discrepancies, and inventory movement.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety procedures and warehouse operating guidelines.
- Operate material handling equipment safely, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Maintain clean and organized shipping and receiving areas.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable transportation regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or manufacturing preferred.
- Basic computer skills and experience with ERP or inventory systems.
- Ability to read packing slips, purchase orders, and shipping documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks (certification preferred or required).
Work Environment
- Manufacturing or warehouse setting.
- Exposure to moving equipment, noise, and varying temperatures depending on facility conditions.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, AS400/BPCS, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Forklift certification.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment with high shipping volume.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
