Metal Groover/Machine Groover (Metal Fabrication)

The Machine Groover is responsible for operating and maintaining grooving machines used to cut precision grooves into pipe, fittings, or other metal components in accordance with production standards and customer specifications. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and strict adherence to safety and quality procedures.

Key Responsibilities

· Set up, operate, and monitor grooving machines to produce grooves on pipe and related components per blueprints, work orders, or specifications.

· Measure, inspect, and verify product dimensions using calipers, gauges, or other precision measuring instruments.

· Perform routine machine adjustments and minor maintenance to ensure consistent operation.

· Identify, troubleshoot, and report equipment malfunctions or material defects to supervision or maintenance.

· Maintain accurate production and quality records, including job travelers, inspection logs, and downtime reports.

· Adhere to all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, and safe material handling practices.

· Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and quality personnel to maintain production flow and resolve quality issues.

· Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with 5S and lean manufacturing principles.

· Assist with training new operators as assigned.

Qualifications

· Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or GED required.

· 1–2 years of experience operating industrial or metal-working machinery preferred.

· Previous experience in pipe fabrication, machining, or metal forming is a plus.

· Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, production drawings, and measuring instruments.

· Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

· Ability to stand for long periods and handle physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs.

· Commitment to workplace safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
