Payroll Administrator

Clayton Services is searching for a Payroll Administrator to join a thriving company in Northwest Houston. The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for supporting payroll processing, maintaining accurate employee payroll records, reviewing time and expense information, and assisting with payroll-related reporting and compliance.

Job Type: Temp-to-Hire

Pay Rate: $26.44 - $31.25/hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Monday - Friday, Onsite, Half-days on Friday

Payroll Administrator Responsibilities:

• Assist with processing payroll accurately and on schedule
• Enter new hire information and employee updates into the payroll system
• Review employee time records, expense submissions, and payroll data for accuracy
• Verify payroll information for compliance with company policies and applicable wage and hour regulations
• Support payroll reconciliation activities before, during, and after each payroll cycle
• Post payroll-related general ledger entries as needed
• Coordinate, track, and reconcile paid time off balances
• Process salary changes, compensation updates, and other payroll adjustments
• Respond to payroll-related questions from employees and internal team members
• Assist with documentation requests, audits, and inquiries from state or federal agencies
• Generate payroll reports and provide information to management as requested
• Maintain organized payroll files and confidential employee records
• Perform additional administrative and payroll-related duties as assigned

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow established procedures
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Familiarity with payroll systems and payroll reporting

Payroll Administrator Education and Experience:

• 2-5 years of payroll or accounting experience required
• Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations preferred
• Experience with Deltek Vision is a plus
• Experience with Paychex Flex or similar payroll software is preferred
• Previous experience processing payroll, reviewing time records, and maintaining payroll data is preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree in accounting, business, human resources, or a related field is a plus
