Clayton Services is searching for an OEM Business Development Manager to join a thriving company in Houston, Texas. The OEM Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing new strategic OEM relationships within the oil and gas manufacturing sector while expanding the company's presence with large corporate accounts.

This role is ideal for an experienced steel industry professional with strong relationships within oilfield OEM manufacturing organizations and the ability to navigate complex corporate procurement and engineering structures.


Job Type: Direct Hire

Pay Rate: $95,000 – $115,000 base salary plus commission tied to gross margin growth

OEM Business Development Manager Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop new OEM manufacturing accounts within the oil and gas industry
  • Build strategic relationships with procurement, engineering, and supply chain leaders at major OEM organizations
  • Navigate approved vendor list (AVL) processes and complex corporate procurement structures
  • Develop and manage long-term OEM programs focused on cost reduction and supply reliability
  • Expand the company's presence with large manufacturing customers throughout the Gulf Coast region
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing customers while identifying opportunities for account expansion
  • Present cost-savings and supply chain solutions to large manufacturing organizations
  • Manage a consultative sales process focused on strategic account growth rather than high-volume transactional sales
  • Coordinate with internal operations teams to ensure inventory availability and timely delivery of alloy steel bar products
  • Travel throughout the Gulf Coast region including Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma to develop customer relationships
  • Other duties as assigned


OEM Business Development Manager Skills and Abilities:


  • Strong understanding of alloy steel products including rolled and forged bar materials
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with corporate-level decision makers
  • Experience selling into large oil and gas OEM manufacturing organizations
  • Ability to navigate complex procurement processes and long sales cycles
  • Strong business development and consultative sales skills
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication abilities
  • Ability to identify cost-reduction opportunities for manufacturing customers
  • Self-motivated "hunter” mentality with a focus on building strategic accounts


OEM Business Development Manager Education and Experience:


  • 10 years of experience in the steel or specialty metals industry
  • Experience working with oil and gas OEM manufacturing companies strongly preferred
  • Background in supply chain, purchasing, or strategic account sales preferred
  • Experience developing relationships with large corporate manufacturing organizations
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required with relevant industry experience
