Senior Accountant

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for supporting the company’s accounting operations, including month-end and year-end close activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and general ledger management. This position will also support retail trade accounting activities and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.

Experience within the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG), consumer goods, or Manufacturing is strongly preferred, particularly with exposure to trade spend, customer deductions, promotional allowances, rebates, and accruals.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
• Support retail trade accounting activities, including the review and reconciliation of trade spend, customer deductions, promotional allowances, rebates, and related accruals.
• Partner with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial activity.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and other financial analysis as needed.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal controls.
• Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and analysis.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Participate in special projects and other accounting initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• CPG, consumer products, manufacturing, or related industry experience are strongly preferred.
• Experience with retail trade accounting, trade spend, deductions, rebates, or promotional accruals preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.
