Overview
We at the Clarion Inn & Suites in Aiken, SC are seeking a dependable and experienced Maintenance Worker to help keep our hotel operating safely, efficiently, and in excellent condition. The ideal candidate will have experience with general maintenance and repairs, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to identify and resolve maintenance issues in a timely manner.
As a Maintenance Worker, your primary responsibility will be to perform routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repairs throughout guest rooms, common areas, and other areas of the property. This position will also assist with groundskeeping, property cleanliness, and houseman duties as needed to ensure our hotel remains safe, clean, functional, and welcoming for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs throughout guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and hotel staff.
- Handle minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, drywall, caulking, and general repairs within training and authorization.
- Inspect guest rooms and hotel equipment for maintenance issues and correct or report deficiencies.
- Maintain doors, locks, lighting, furniture, fixtures, appliances, and other hotel equipment.
- Keep maintenance tools, supplies, storage areas, and workspaces clean, organized, and secure.
- Document completed repairs, preventive maintenance, inspections, and unresolved issues.
- Report safety hazards, equipment failures, water leaks, property damage, and conditions requiring outside contractors.
- Keep rooms/hotel up to Clarion/Choice Hotels brand standards.
- Follow hotel safety procedures, chemical-handling requirements, PPE requirements, and applicable workplace regulations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional appearance throughout the property.
- Protect guest privacy and follow proper procedures when entering occupied rooms.
- Assist with emergencies and urgent property needs as directed by management.
- Work cooperatively with housekeeping, front desk, management, and other departments.
- Perform other reasonable maintenance, groundskeeping, houseman, and property-support duties as assigned based on operational needs.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in hotel maintenance, general maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and general repairs.
- Ability to identify maintenance problems and complete minor repairs independently.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance and routine property inspections.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with guests, coworkers, and management.
- Willingness to assist with groundskeeping, housekeeping/houseman duties, and general property upkeep when needed.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical work for extended periods.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Hotel maintenance experience is a plus, but not required for candidates with relevant maintenance experience.
