Lead Estimator β Precast Concrete Infrastructure π Newnan, GA | Full-Time | Permanent
Our client is a national leader in precast concrete infrastructure β reinforced concrete pipe, manholes, box culverts, stormwater systems, sound walls, and more β operating 18 manufacturing facilities and serving contractors, municipalities, and developers across the US. They are seeking a seasoned Lead Estimator to take ownership of their estimating function and play a key role in driving continued growth.
The Role
Our client is looking for a commercially sharp, experienced estimator ready to step into a lead position with real ownership and visibility. You'll manage a high-volume bid pipeline, work closely with senior leadership, and be a central figure in how the business wins work.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the end-to-end estimating process across multiple concurrent bids β from plan review and takeoff through to final submission and follow-up
- Conducting detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analyses covering materials, labour, equipment, and delivery to produce winning, margin-conscious proposals
- Partnering with production, engineering, and operations leadership to validate feasibility, pricing strategy, and lead times on complex projects
- Developing and presenting quotes, submittals, and bid packages to a high standard
- Building and maintaining a robust library of historical cost data, bid outcomes, and estimating benchmarks
- Acting as a key liaison between estimating and the sales team β translating technical requirements into clear commercial proposals
- Identifying cost-saving and value engineering opportunities to strengthen bid position
- Owning bid pipeline reporting and providing strategic insight to senior leadership
- Driving continuous improvement across estimating processes and mentoring junior team members
What Our Client Is Looking For
- 7 years of estimating experience in precast concrete, reinforced pipe, or a closely related construction materials environment
- Strong ability to read and commercially assess complex civil/structural drawings and specifications
- Solid knowledge of DOT bid processes and public infrastructure requirements (GDOT, ALDOT, TDOT or FDOT experience a plus)
- Advanced MS Office proficiency; hands-on experience with ERP, CRM, and estimating software required
- A commercially minded approach β you think in margin and strategy, not just cost
- Strong communicator, confident engaging contractors, engineers, and senior stakeholders
- Highly organised with the ability to manage a high-volume bid calendar
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and substantial industry experience considered
