Role Overview
Provide comprehensive vision care to residents in long-term care facilities. This role allows the doctor to focus entirely on clinical responsibilities while administrative tasks, billing, and scheduling are managed by the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Exams: Perform thorough eye examinations on geriatric patients using portable diagnostic equipment (e.g., OCT, visual field testing).
- Diagnosis & Treatment: Diagnose and manage ocular conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy; perform refractions as needed.
- Patient Education: Clearly communicate exam findings and care plans to patients, their families, and facility nursing staff.
- Collaborative Care: Work alongside an assigned ophthalmic technician/assistant to support patient flow and pre-testing.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and compliant patient records using electronic documentation systems.
