Key Responsibilities of the Product Development Manager:
- Lead New Product Orientation and Launch: Facilitate the successful introduction of new products into retail channels, ensuring all launch documentation and training materials are prepared.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate closely with internal Marketing, Operations, and R&D teams on product timelines, promotions, supply chain needs, and feature updates.
- Retail Strategy and Analysis: Conduct detailed market analysis and account performance reviews to identify unmet needs and opportunities for product line expansion or improvement within assigned retailers.
- Sales Enablement: Develop and deliver engaging product presentations, training, and merchandising best practices to client staff to maximize sales and inventory turnover.
- Forecasting and Compliance: Oversee sales forecasting and inventory levels to ensure optimal stock for new and existing products; manage compliance with all retail channel product agreements.
- Business Planning: Develop and review Quarterly Business Plans (QBPs) focused on product performance metrics and annual sales projections.
- Represent the company as the product expert during major industry tradeshows or client corporate product meetings.
Qualifications of the Product Development Manager:
- 4 years of experience in product management, sales strategy, or account management within the retail, CPG, or distribution environments, with a focus on product lifecycle.
- Proven ability to analyze market data, develop strategic product plans, and deliver effective product training.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage complex cross-functional relationships confidently.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple concurrent product initiatives.
- Proficiency in CRM software and sales forecasting techniques.
