What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pool Manager position at City of Yucaipa?
- Oversees daily operations of the Aquatic facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery;
- Supervises, trains, schedules, and evaluates part-time Aquatics staff, including Assistant Pool Managers, Lifeguards, Water Safety Instructors, and Building Attendants;
- Provides leadership and direction to Aquatics staff, promoting a positive, professional, and safety-focused work environment;
- Assists the Superintendent with planning and implementing Aquatic programs, special events, and facility rentals;
- Develops, implements, and evaluates Aquatic programs, events, and services;
- Prepares materials, supplies, and schedules for Aquatic programming;
- Develops and prepares promotional and program materials, including brochures, calendars, flyers, and related communications;
- Responds appropriately to emergencies and challenging situations in an effective and professional manner;
- Enforces all pool regulations and policies;
- Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly facility, including performing daily and weekly maintenance tasks;
- Maintains a professional attitude and appearance while providing excellent customer service and fostering positive relationships with staff and patrons;
- Communicates effectively verbally and in writing;
- Oversees and completes necessary reports, paperwork, and facility checks for program administration;
- Collects and processes payments in accordance with City payment handling policies and procedures;
- Maintains the ability to swim with proficiency and endurance; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years of age;
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework is desirable;
- Knowledge of principles and practices of water safety, rescue methods, lifesaving techniques, and first aid as applied to aquatic environments;
- Minimum of two (2) years of lifeguarding experience and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Lifeguard or Assistant Pool Manager;
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays;
- Possession of a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification; and
- Possession of a current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.

Physical Demands
This position requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, bending, stooping, squatting, and crouching in the performance of daily duties. This position also requires both near and far vision and acute hearing.
Environmental Conditions
Work is performed outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures.
