What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Pool Manager position at City of Yucaipa?
- Assists the Pool Manager with planning and implementing aquatic special events, rentals, and programs;
- Supervises and assigns duties to Lifeguards, Water Safety Instructors, and Building Attendants;
- Prepares required materials and supplies for scheduled programming;
- Responds appropriately to emergencies and challenging situations in an effective and professional manner;
- Enforces all pool regulations and policies;
- Maintains a professional attitude and appearance while providing excellent customer service and fostering positive relationships with staff and patrons;
- Communicates effectively verbally and in writing;
- Completes necessary paperwork and facility checks/tasks for daily program administration;
- Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly facility, including performing daily and weekly maintenance tasks;
- Assists in developing new ideas and enhancements for the Aquatics program;
- Collects and processes payments in accordance with City cash handling policies and procedures; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years of age;
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Knowledge of principles and practices of water safety, rescue methods, lifesaving techniques, and first aid as applied to aquatic environments;
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays;
- Possession of a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification;
- Minimum of two (2) years of lifeguarding experience; and
- Possession of a current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification is desirable and must be obtained within one (1) year of hire.

Physical Demands
This position requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, bending, stooping, squatting, and crouching in the performance of daily duties. This position also requires both near and far vision and acute hearing.
Environmental Conditions
Work is performed outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures.
