What are the responsibilities and job description for the Internal Only - Principal City Planner position at City of Springfield (MO)?
This position will report to the Director of Planning and Development and be assigned various planning projects. This position will be oversee several projects and will coordinate with other departments to ensure a comprehensive approach is taken for all planning projects.
Such projects may include, not limited to, the creation of a long-range plan for the Urban Service Area (USA), creation of a strategic approach towards clarifying and implementing housing priorities, formation of a land bank, and identification of redevelopment/revitalization opportunities.
This position will also focus on ensuring all planning projects/initiatives are aligned with the vision of Forward SGF and City Council Priorities.

Experience, Education, and Training
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with specialization in Urban Planning, Geography, Public Administration or related field;
- At least four years of current and increasingly responsible professional planning experience, at least one of which is in a supervisory capacity;
- A Master's Degree in a related area may be substituted for one year of required experience.
Licensing/Certification
- None required.
