What are the responsibilities and job description for the INTERNAL ONLY - Plan Review Specialist position at City of Springfield (MO)?
The Department of Building Development Services implements and monitors a variety of city, state, and federal codes, and four trades (electrical, plumbing, gas and mechanical). It also offers essential information for businesses, homeowners, landlords, tenants, contractors, and developers. The department employs over 30 people and has an annual budget of about $2 million, or 2% of the general fund budget. Serves the building and development needs of the community in an expeditious manner. Polices public right-of-way along streets and roads removing illegal signs. Gives tests and awards certificates to electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, and mechanical craftsmen for a license to operate in Springfield.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering, or a related discipline;
- At least three years professional work experience as either a certified plans, plumbing, or mechanical examiner, certified building inspector, or certified building official by one of the model codes, or in building design and drafting;
- Experience above the three year requirement as either a certified plans, plumbing, electrical or mechanical examiner, certified building inspector, or certified building official by one of the model codes may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Licensing/Certification
- Must be able to obtain certification through International Code Council as a building plans examiner within 2 years from start date.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License.
