The Events Manager works within the Events Department for the downtown Raleigh Convention Center. Our modern 500,000 square-foot facility includes a stunning granite lobby with dramatic windows and downtown views, an elegant ballroom, and a massive exhibit hall, all with outstanding tech amenities and award-winning culinary delights.
This role directs and manages the overall planning, production and execution of events, ensuring adherence to industry standards and client expectations. It collaborates closely with event planners and clients to gather detailed event requirements, optimizing event layouts and logistics for maximum efficiency. The events manager also coordinates with both internal and external teams to meet event expectations, prioritizing safety and compliance with policies and procedures.

Work Hours:
This position works during standard office hours Monday - Friday that are subject to change based on the events schedule and on-site coverage requirements, including early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Plans, organizes logistics, and manages event operational activities, providing oversight of resource scheduling, staffing, production coordination, and marketing activities
- Serves as front-of-house operations manager as applicable
- Meets with event planners and other clientele to gather event details and requirements. Collaborates in scheduling, event layout and logistics and reviews and verifies requirements and safety procedures based on event, location, and facility space
- Works collaboratively with internal teams such as Operations, Maintenance, Sales, Finance, or any other department to meet event expectations and to comply with policies and procedures, safety codes, and other performance standards
- Performs administrative events management duties including preparing schedules and maintaining schedule changes, conducting planning meetings, preparing estimates and work orders, addressing issues, communicating with the operations team on facility requirements, and monitoring budgeting and contractual agreements
- Maintains schedules, layout drawings, event documentation, records, and files, including assisting as needed with event marketing activities and/or event obtaining sponsors
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Associate's Degree in Technical Theatre Production, Recreation, Public Administration, Event Management, or related field; 1 to 3 years' experience in technical theatre production, recreation, event management, or related fieldOR
Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted
