About This Position
The Law Department is comprised of the City Attorney's Office, which handles representing the City in civil matters, and the City Prosecutor's Office, which handles the prosecution of misdemeanor crimes committed in Phoenix.
The Law Department is currently seeking candidates to fill a vacancy in the Prosecutor's Office to provide supervisory administrative support as a Criminal Justice Administrative Assistant II in the Legal Clerk Unit (LCU). The Criminal Justice Administrative Assistant II is an essential member of the Prosecutor's Office, playing a key role in the Criminal Justice process and ensuring accurate, timely preparation of cases.
This position serves as the administrator of the Legal Clerk Unit, providing leadership and oversight for four teams of legal clerks. The unit works closely with criminal staff attorneys to prepare and manage cases in support of the Charging and Trial bureaus, as well as initial appearance and arraignment court. The LCU is responsible for document and evidence management, obtaining victim and witness availability for trial, providing clerical support such as filing motions and issuing subpoenas, and ensuring cases are fully prepared for prosecutors at trial.
Primary Responsibilities Include
Pay Range: $66,185.60 to $107,806.40 annually.
Hiring Range: $66,185.60 to $97,780.80 annually.

- Analyzing and improving business processes.
- Developing and maintaining procedures, systems, forms, and manuals.
- Performing statistical and operational analyses.
- Researching administrative issues to recommend effective solutions.
- Supervising clerical and technical personnel.
- Training employees.
- Assisting with grant writing and monitoring.
- Completing special projects assigned by leadership.
- Working evenings, weekends or holidays may be required.
- Strong supervisory skills with experience leading and coordinating large workgroups.
- Experience developing, maintaining and streamlining procedures, systems, forms, and manuals.
- Knowledge and experience in Arizona municipal law, legal terminology and the criminal justice process.
- Demonstrates initiative, independent judgment, and strong organizational skills.
- Familiarity with research methods and techniques.
- Display a willingness to work extended hours and a flexible schedule.
Pay Range: $66,185.60 to $107,806.40 annually.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in public or business administration or a related field.
- Three years of professional experience in public administration or governmental research or finance.
- Other combinations of education and experience that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

- Experience with retention, maintenance, and destruction of records in compliance with approved retention schedules.
- Knowledge and experience in legal terminology, and the criminal justice process.
- Experience with supervising, training, and mentoring workgroups.
- Experience with ProsecutorByKarpel (PbK).
- Experience with investigating business processes; and developing new/improved processes/systems, procedures, and forms.
