What are the responsibilities and job description for the LIBRARY ASSISTANT - P/T position at City of Newport Beach?
- Application Evaluation: Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis with a first review date of Wednesday, April 29, 2026, or until 150 applications are received - whichever comes first. - Online Exam: The most qualified applicants will be invited to take an online exam. This exam is tentatively scheduled for the week of May 4, 2026. Top scoring applicants
- Interview: Tentatively scheduled for the week of May 25, 2025. Passing applicants will be placed on an eligibility list that may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur in the Central Library, Corona del Mar, and Mariners branches.
This position works a flexible schedule of up to 19 hours per week including days, nights and weekends based on the needs of the Library.

A combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: No experience is required. Library experience preferred.
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
License/Certificate: Due to the performance of some field duties, which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record may be required.
