Come join our team as a part-time Library Clerk I in the Library Services Department!
Currently, there is one part-time positions available at the Central Library.
Selection Components:
- Application Evaluation: Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis with the first review of applications on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, or until 150 applications are received, whichever occurs first. Please apply immediately as the recruitment may close at any time.
- Online Exam: The most qualified applicants will be invited to take an online exam. Tentatively scheduled for the week of May 4, 2026. Top scoring applicants will be invited to an interview.
- Interview: Tentatively scheduled for the week of May 25, 2026. Applicants will be placed on an eligibility list that may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur in the Central Library, Balboa, Corona del Mar and Mariners branches.
Career Path:
This position is part of the part-time Library Clerk Series which includes: Library Clerk I, Library Clerk II and Senior Library Clerk.
Schedule:

A combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: No experience is required, but previous experience in a customer service setting and/or clerical experience is preferred.
Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
License/Certificate: Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record may be required.
