Currently, there is one part-time Associate Engineer position available. This position will perform professional and technical engineering work in assigned area of responsibility such as plan and development review, contract administration and design; and will provide technical staff assistance to higher level engineering staff. Successful candidates will be placed on an eligibility list that may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.

SELECTION COMPONENTS:

Application Evaluation: Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis with the first review date of February 19, 2026. Interview: Candidates deemed most qualified as reflected in their online application will be invited to a interview tentatively schedule for the week of March 25, 2026.

SCHEDULE:
This position will work 20 to 30 hours per week.

The career path for this position includes: Associate Civil Engineer, Civil Engineer, Senior Civil Engineer, and Principal Civil Engineer.

RETIREMENT:
The City offers an excellent benefit package and membership in the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). The retirement formula is based on appointment date and membership status with CalPERS and the employee is required to contribute 8% (or half the normal cost, whichever is higher) of their pay towards the retirement benefit.

A combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience.

Education: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.

License/Certificate: Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
