Newberry Community School is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Specialist to support financial operations, student data management, and grant administration. This role ensures accurate recordkeeping, compliance with funding requirements, and effective management of school resources.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in administration, business management, budgeting, or finance
- Experience with grant development, research, or proposal writing preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, agencies, school administration, teachers, and students
- Skill in the use of computers and software applications
- Knowledge and skill in the use of basic office equipment
- Skill in analyzing computer data (input/output)
- Ability to exercise independent judgment
- Ability to organize and prioritize assignments with minimal supervision
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of grant procurement and project fund management
- Knowledge of Florida school law guidelines and procedures related to grants
- Knowledge of statutes, policies, and rules related to assigned programs
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to make presentations to a variety of audiences
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain and update student information system data, including demographics, attendance, discipline, and grades
- Assist with student registration, scheduling, and withdrawals
- Generate reports, documents, surveys, and mailing materials
- Monitor accuracy of data input and system outputs
- Develop and maintain teacher and student schedules
- Track and monitor school revenues and expenditures
- Maintain financial records for federal, state, and local grants
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Process federal grants and record charter school expenditures
- Communicate effectively with staff, administrators, and stakeholders
- Identify issues and recommend improvements
- Maintain accurate records and prepare required reports
- Respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Request and process student transcripts (FASTER system)
- Provide general office support, including answering phones and assisting visitors
- Participate in training, cross-training, and committee work as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform light work, including exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds as needed

- Salary and benefits are provided in accordance with the Board’s approved salary schedule.
