The Position
The City of Maple Grove is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as a Lil Sports Coordinator. In this role, you will enjoy the beautiful Minnesota summers and teach kids all about sports! You will develop lesson plans with input from instructors and aides. Additionally you will help manage the program, while creating a fun and safe environment for our participants. Come and join our growing and diverse community!
Hours
Mid June – Early August, Mondays-Thurs from 4:00-7:00 PM
- Develop lesson plans for each week with input from program instructors and aides.
- Schedule staff meetings, lead meetings, encourage ideas and suggestion from the program staff.
- Coordinate distribution of all supplies and equipment, make request for supplies to Supervisor.
- Work with instructors and aides to assure positive learning techniques are used and classes are conducted in a professional but fun atmosphere.
- Have a thorough understanding of all emergency procedures, assist in situations as needed.
- Assure all forms and reports are completed as requested by Supervisor.
- Implement new ideas, trends and techniques into lesson plans.
- Participate staff trainings as directed by the Supervisor.
- Perform other related duties as requested by Supervisor.
Ability to:
- Motivate and lead staff.
- Exercise independent judgment in working out details of program plan.
- Work and get along with others.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of sports.
- Two years experience leading a sports program for young children.
Nice to have:
- Previous experience working in youth recreation sports.
- Previous experience working with the City of Maple Grove Parks and Recreation Department.
- Ability to speak sign language or a language other than English.
