The City of Laramie is seeking a Recreation Program Generalist: Softball Umpire, an entry-level role that handles various tasks in program management at the Laramie Recreation Center. Duties may include, but are not limited to, assisting program staff with various youth and adult programs, assisting at department events, greeting visitors, addressing public inquiries, and supervising activities within the facility.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Must be capable of working effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work effectively under general supervision.
- Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
- Perform effectively in a fast-paced, often busy environment.
- Must be capable of interacting with patrons.
- First aid and CPR/AED certification are required (training will be provided for the successful candidate).
Preferred Qualifications:
A combination of the following experience and training would be qualifying.
- Working knowledge of recreation programs, which can include sports, fitness, enrichment, and specialized activities.
- Basic understanding of hazards and safety measures common to recreational activities.
- Experience working with the general public, including parents, children, seniors, and interest groups.
- Demonstrated ability for self-motivation.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to foster and maintain enthusiasm in the workplace.
