The City of Laramie is accepting applications for a Records Specialist. This position will perform various specialized recordkeeping and administrative tasks to support the Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS departments and divisions. Applicants will manage sensitive reports related to highly emotional and often traumatic events.
The ideal candidate will be honest, accurate, and organized. They will possess strong communication skills and a friendly demeanor while responding discreetly to high-pressure situations. A stable work history will demonstrate their effective use of technology and their dedication to teamwork.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and input data into the department’s records management system.
- Maintain confidential criminal records.
- Respond to requests from the public and other law enforcement or government agencies; access databases, redact information, collect fees, and log requests.
- Perform various everyday clerical tasks.
- Create audio recordings of 911 calls and radio traffic.
Qualifications and Requirements:
A combination of the following experience and training would be qualifying.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- One year of clerical experience, including word processing or data entry skills.
- Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment is essential for performing office functions efficiently.
- Proficiency in English, spelling, and punctuation.
- Efficiency in organizing, prioritizing, and completing multiple tasks with minimal supervision. Knowledge and experience in interacting with the public.
- Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships.
