Description Grow your career with us. The City of La Crosse is seeking to hire a Chief City Assessor in the Planning & Development Department. The Chief City Assessor is responsible for establishing the accurate and equitable valuation of all residential and commercial real estate in accordance with Wisconsin statutes.
The work involves overseeing the department and administration of the real and personal property scheme, reporting, collaboration with other city departments, managing staff and administration of the policies and procedures necessary for completion of the annual assessment roll. Annual salary for this full-time, exempt position ranges between $95,742.40 and $109,657.60. Associate degree in property appraisal and assessment or related field; a minimum of eight years' experience in progressively responsible real property appraisal, including technical proficiency in appraisal of complex income-producing properties, supervisory experience, and public sector large-scale mass appraisal required. Certification by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue at the levels of both Assessor 2 (required at time of hire) and Assessor 3 (must be obtained within 3 months of hire) (Wisc. DOR requirement) is required.
Must maintain appropriate number of continuing education credits. Prior municipal assessing experience preferred. Must possess valid driver's license, good driving record and provide your own vehicle for use on the job.
