Interim Senior Controller (Contract) – Manufacturing

I’m partnering with a well-established manufacturing organization in the Upper Midwest seeking an experienced Senior Controller for a contract / interim engagement. This role is focused on stabilizing and strengthening the finance function in a hands-on, operationally intensive environment.

Position Overview

The Interim Senior Controller will step into a key leadership role, working closely with executive leadership to assess current financial operations, implement structure, and improve the accuracy and usability of financial reporting—particularly within a manufacturing cost environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and stabilize accounting and finance operations
• Lead improvements in manufacturing cost accounting, including inventory and standard costing processes
• Enhance financial reporting accuracy, timeliness, and transparency
• Identify gaps in processes and implement practical, scalable solutions
• Partner with operations and leadership to provide actionable financial insights
• Support the organization through a transition period and prepare for long-term continuity

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Controller or senior finance leader in a manufacturing environment
• Deep expertise in cost accounting (required)
• Strong understanding of inventory, standard costing, and operational finance
• Demonstrated ability to step into complex or underdeveloped environments and drive improvements
• Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves approach with strong leadership and communication skills
