DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The General Services Department (GSD) is seeking a Customer Service Representative II who will assist customers with obtaining City of Houston identification badges, badge access and various inquiries regarding security issues, as well as the following duties:

• Assists Public Loss Investigators in gathering information.
• Uses effective questioning techniques to verify/confirm customers' concerns.
• Maintains and monitors various records and reports.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or a GED.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years of administrative or customer service related experience are required.

Substitution: An Associate’s degree may be substituted for up to two years of the experience requirement.

PREFERENCES

Preference will be given to applicants with experience using Microsoft programs and who have experience with face-to-face interaction. Candidates must be able to work independently and possess excellent interpersonal, communication and computer skills.

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.*
