The City of Hampton is looking for a Pretrial Officer - Behavioral Health Docket! This position provides pretrial supervision, support, and guidance to defendants referred by the courts to the Criminal Justice Agency and serves as a key liaison between the Hampton Courts, the Community Services Board and other critical stakeholders.. The role focuses on monitoring compliance with court-ordered conditions, promoting accountability, and connecting individuals to appropriate community-based resources to support successful case outcomes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, skilled in case management, and committed to upholding public safety while supporting individuals through the judicial system with professionalism and integrity.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from an accredited college or university or a closely related field of study.
- Three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience in case management or a closely related experience.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must possess or obtain VCIN certification within 90 days of employment.
- This position is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy.
- Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- This position is contingent upon the availability of grant funding, and the continuation of employment is subject to the renewal or extension of the grant.
Additional Requirements
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
