Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board: Who we are
Since 1971, the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are living with a mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.
HNNCSB partners with both Hampton and Newport News General District Courts as part of separate dockets. BHDs are non-adversarial approaches by the judicial system, treatment providers, and other stakeholders addressing the needs of individuals with serious mental illness who have become involved in the criminal justice system. Through on-going support and supervision, the Court and Team assist individuals as they engage in services and address challenges to prevent further penetration within the criminal justice system.
DAY TO DAY AS A CASE MANAGER FOR THE HAMPTON BEHAVIORAL HEALTH DOCKET
As a full-time Case Manager for the Hampton BHD at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board you will play a vital role in supporting individuals living with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) to achieve and maintain optimal functioning within their community. Through in-depth assessments of clients' needs and strengths, Case Managers connect them to essential community services, ensuring they receive the necessary support for success. This position involves a range of responsibilities, including outreach, treatment planning, advocacy, counseling, and crisis intervention. Case Managers also serve as a key liaison to the criminal justice system, collaborating with clients, families, and service providers to assess eligibility and facilitate access to services. By preparing mental status and social assessments, you will respond to inquiries regarding resources for individuals dealing with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders.

To qualify for this position, candidates must have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in human services such as Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or Counseling.
