What are the responsibilities and job description for the CHILDRENS THEATER DIRECTOR position at CITY OF GRAND ISLAND?
DEFINITION
Select, organize and cast two City Theater Program plays during the summer.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direct supervision from the Recreation Coordinator and general supervision from the Recreation Superintendent.
Exercises supervision over cast members and volunteers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Display honest, trustworthy, and ethical behavior when dealing with internal and external customers.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Regular attendance that is punctual and dependable is required.
Select, organize and cast two City Theater Program plays during the summer.
Schedule and conduct auditions for each play.
Create a practice schedule and complete all tasks associated with the successful direction of the City’s Children Theater Program.
Schedule and conduct rehearsals, dress rehearsals, set up and tear down stage.
Design and build sets.
Provide ideas to parents for costumes for the children's theater performances.
Publicize and promote all City Children’s Theater programs.
Organize and coordinate recreation programs and services.
Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public.
Qualifications:Knowledge of:

Awareness and understanding of technical issues, the workings of a theater and the process of performance and acting.

License or Certification:

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Must be 18 years of age.
Work Hours:
Hours Monday through Friday 9:00am - 4:00pm will vary depending on department needs but will include working days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
The duration of the position is mid-May through mid-August.
Salary:
Position will start at the entry level of the City's salary table. Consideration may be given if experience exceeds entry level qualifications.

Salary : $15 - $17
