DEFINITION
Count, organize and document daily cash register and attendance totals.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direct supervision from Admissions Manager and Recreation Coordinator.
Exercises no supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Display honest, trustworthy, and ethical behavior when dealing with internal and external customers.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Regular attendance that is punctual and dependable is required.
Count, organize, and document daily cash register and attendance totals.
Check figures and documents for correct entry and mathematical accuracy.
Comply with City of Grand Island policies, procedures, and regulations.
Operate 10-key calculator.
Reconcile or note and report discrepancies found in records.
Perform general office duties such as filing, answering telephones, and handling routine correspondence.
Qualifications:Knowledge of:
Basic mathematical principals used in clerical accounting operations.
Modern office practices, procedures and methods, including the use of computers and related software.
Principles and procedures of cashiering.
Accurate use of a 10 key calculator.
Methods and procedures used in accounts payable and receivable.
Policies and procedures related to purchase orders and purchase requisitions.
Principles and practices of financial record keeping.
Ability to:
Accurately count, record and balance cash transactions and other monies received.
Perform computational tasks and other clerical functions with speed and accuracy.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Prepare accurate and concise financial reports.
License and Certifications
None required.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
One year of general clerical experience including financial record keeping, or customer service. Must be 18 years of age.
Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in accounting, record keeping or customer service is desirable.
Working Hours:
Hours Monday through Friday 9:00am - 12:00pm (noon) may vary and are dependent upon the department needs.
The duration of the position is Memorial Day through the end of August.
Salary:
Position will start at the entry level of the City's salary table. Consideration may be given if experience exceeds entry level qualifications.
