Motor Equipment Operator I - Class B
The City of College Park's Department of Public Works has an immediate opening for Motor Equipment Operator I. This position requires a Class B CDL driver's license with endorsements.
This position requires the person to occasionally assist with refuse, recycling, and leaf collection, and to perform additional manual labor duties. The driver should be familiar with operating a 32-cubic-yard solid waste packer truck, snowplow dump truck, and other specialized equipment.
This position is considered essential in emergencies and severe weather events. Incumbents must be willing and able to work long shifts in adverse conditions. All essential personnel may be required to report for duty on short notice or to remain on duty beyond the regular shift.
Qualifications
This is a full-time position (40 hours) with benefits, including Maryland State Retirement. The hourly rate ranges from $28.71- $30.17.
All candidates considered for the position will be required to undergo a background investigation, a pre-employment physical, and a drug screening. The City of College Park is a Drug-Free Workplace, and pre-employment and random drug testing are required to maintain a safe, drug-free work environment.

- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience operating motorized equipment.
- Valid Class B Driver's license in the state of residence with the following:
- Air Brake Endorsement
- Tanker Endorsement
- Passenger Endorsement
