What You'll Do
As a Parking Enforcement Officer, you will help ensure parking regulations are fairly and consistently enforced throughout the City. Working both on foot and in a City vehicle, you will patrol residential neighborhoods, business districts, public lots, and garages.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Issuing citations for parking violations in accordance with City codes and ordinances
- Using license plate recognition (LPR) technology to enforce residential permit parking
- Monitoring and enforcing parking meters, public garages, and surface lots
- Booting or impounding vehicles when necessary
- Servicing and replacing parking meters and pay stations
- Providing information and assistance to residents, visitors, and local businesses
- Appearing in court when required
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- The ability to remain calm and professional in difficult situations
- Excellent multitasking and problem-solving abilities
- Comfort working outdoors and independently
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Experience using smart devices and tablets
- Working knowledge of Windows-based laptops and Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with videoconferencing tools such as Zoom
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Prior parking enforcement experience
- Experience using LPR technology and parking management software
- Law enforcement or public sector service background
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish
- Military service experience (veterans are encouraged to apply)
This full-time position requires the following non-negotiable schedule:
- Monday: 11:30 A.M. – 8:30 P.M.
- Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 11:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M.
