Overview

Join our dedicated emergency response team as a 911 Telecommunicator/Dispatcher, where your quick thinking and exceptional communication skills will be the backbone of public safety. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for emergency calls, providing critical assistance and dispatching appropriate responders swiftly and accurately. Duties

• Answer multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
• Assess emergency calls through phone triage, gathering essential information efficiently to determine the level of urgency.
• Utilize Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software to log incidents, dispatch law enforcement and fire and coordinate response efforts using radio communication systems.
• Apply law enforcement procedures and emergency medical dispatch protocols to provide accurate instructions for first aid or CPR when necessary.
• Use GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and GPS technology to identify caller locations precisely and optimize response routes.
• Maintain clear, detailed records through transcription, data entry, and report writing while managing conflict situations with calm negotiation skills.
• Provide ongoing support through analysis skills during high-pressure situations, ensuring all responders have the information needed for effective action.

Qualifications

• Previous EMT experience or background in emergency medical services is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of police dispatch procedures, radio communication systems, and emergency communication protocols.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, basic life support (BLS), CPR, and emergency medical dispatch (EMD) certification preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency with computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software, telephony systems, and multi-line phone operations.
• Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—along with strong typing speed and technical proficiency in data entry.
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly while managing conflict effectively through negotiation and conflict management techniques.
• Experience working with law enforcement agencies or in customer service roles that require empathy, patience, and professionalism is a plus.
