Chula Seafood is opening in Downtown Phoenix at the Arizona Center, and we’re looking for a talented, driven Sous Chef to join our opening team.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen, leads by example, and takes pride in consistency, execution, and team development. As Sous Chef, you’ll work closely with the Executive Chef to help build and lead a high-performing BOH team from the ground up.

What You’ll Do:
- Support the Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations
- Lead and manage line cooks, prep, and dish team during service
- Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and execution
- Uphold all food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training the opening BOH team
- Help manage inventory, ordering, and product quality
- Maintain prep standards, pars, and kitchen organization
- Support scheduling and labor management
- Jump in wherever needed — this is a hands-on role
- 2 years of kitchen leadership experience (Sous Chef or strong Lead Line)
- A passion for high-quality food and kitchen excellence
- Strong communication and team leadership skills
- Ability to stay organized and calm under pressure
- Experience in high-volume kitchens
- Food safety certification (or ability to obtain)
- Seafood experience is a plus, but not required
