Christel House Indianapolis is a thriving and innovative network of urban charter schools in Indianapolis. We consist of two traditional K-8 academies, a high school, and an adult dropout recovery high school (DORS) on four campuses. Our mission is to support students and families to break the cycle of generational poverty. What makes us unique is that Christel House Indianapolis provides a holistic human development approach that focuses on building strong character to complement each student’s rigorous academic foundation. Through our College & Careers program, Christel House Indianapolis continues to support our graduates through post-secondary education and job placement so they become self-sufficient, contributing members of society. In this role, you support this work by implementing the network’s recruiting program to ensure a pool of high quality teaching candidates, and to attract undeveloped talent into the organization’s programs. In addition to teacher recruitment, the position will also help with the identification of educational support staff applicants across the network as well as serve as a recruiter for the IndyTeach program. The talent specialist should expect to travel approximately 30% of the time.


WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Coordinate with principals, hiring managers, and Chief Financial Officer to execute recruitment programs based upon projected and potential staffing needs
  • Implement interview and hiring process in partnership with stakeholder groups
  • Screen each applicant to ensure alignment with the mission of Christel House Indianapolis and experience related to the applied position
  • Clearly communicate with hiring managers the outcomes and recommendations after screenings
  • Confer with principals and network staff on the most appropriate fit for qualified and interested candidates among our network
  • Ensure consistent communication is being followed throughout a candidate’s application and interview process
  • Implement recruiting strategies and initiatives to increase qualified applicant volume
  • Attend university and job/career fairs
  • Develop and maintain working relationships within colleges and universities to aid in recruiting
  • Build networks to find qualified passive candidates
  • Utilize social media, job boards, internet sourcing, and other technical means to source candidates
  • Maintain regular contact with possible candidates
  • Compile and analyze data on best practices and sources for attaining high quality candidates
  • Counsel potential candidates on organizational benefits and environment, to sell the network and our mission.
  • Create marketing materials for hiring and the IndyTeach program
  • Assist the hiring and onboarding for the Indy Teach program
  • Develop and ensure best practices in recruitment, selection, and hiring are being implemented across the network
  • Other duties assigned

Requirements

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Bachelor’s degree and some educational experience
  • Marketing background preferred
  • Experience in recruiting preferred
  • Self-starter, attention to detail, able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively & dynamically in both oral and in written forms
  • Strong networking abilities, and excellent persuasion skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, that includes routine travel in and out of state
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities across multiple programs, schools, and campuses
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete reports and paperwork in a timely manner
  • An agreement with the mission statement and goals of Christel House Indianapolis
