What are the responsibilities and job description for the Church Sexton position at Christ Lutheran Church?
Overview
The Sexton is responsible for performing duties primarily related to setting up and arranging the tables and chairs in the Fellowship Hall for scheduled events and taking down when necessary following events and for performing other related duties as required. This position will require approximately four to six hours per week. Hours worked will be unscheduled and at the discretion of the sexton.
Duties
1. Attend and participate in staff meeting.
2. Set up tables and chairs in Fellowship Hall for Sunday coffee hours.
3. Set up tables and chairs in Fellowship Hall for Tuesday morning Mission Group.
4. Check to see that wastebaskets and garbage cans in Library, Offices, Nursery, Restrooms, Kitchen and Fellowship Hall are emptied for early Thursday morning pickup.
5. Do a walk-through of highly used areas of the building to note any issues needing
attention and report to the Office Manager.
6. Check Restrooms, Nursery and Kitchen to maintain stock of garbage bags, Restroom supplies of toilet paper, paper towels, dispenser soap and air freshener refills; replace as required; order to restock supplies as required.
7. Maintain fresh supply of dish towels in kitchen.
As Needed:
1. Remove funeral flowers from Sanctuary and vacuum, if needed.
2. Deliver food basket items to St. Vincent de Paul.
3. Monitor building thermostats; reset for daylight savings time changes; maintain stock of batteries for thermostats. Maintain & drain portable AC in choir loft.
4. Respond to/correct any interior flooding issues which may occur in Restrooms, Nursery and Kitchen.
5. Set up Fellowship Hall for 'special events' such as soup suppers and celebrations.
6. Servicing dishwasher chemicals (replacing/ordering) as needed.
7. Monitor kitchen for ants and treat as needed.

Pay: $17.13 per hour
