What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Ministries Leader position at Kennewick First United Methodist Church?
SUMMARY – The Youth Ministries Leader is a lay pastor, teacher, administrator, and volunteer organizer for weekly and seasonal events, retreats, and mission projects, with attention to helping students grow in faith and community, while maintaining safe church boundaries.
MINISTRY PURPOSE – Form middle and high school youth to be disciples of Jesus Christ who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously in our church and community.
QUALIFICATIONS -
· Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ, seeking to love, grow, and serve God personally.
· Understand/commit to uphold the missions & values of KFUMC, and to learn more about the Bible and Methodism.
· Exhibit genuine passion and call for youth ministry.
· Be equipped to share Scriptures and relate them to everyday lives of youth.
· Demonstrate strong leadership skills, initiative, and accountability.
· Demonstrate competency in interpersonal skills, conflict management and resolution, written and spoken English communication with young people, organizational skills, and time management skills.
· Be proficient in, and continue learning, common computer applications and social media platforms for use in ministry.
WORKING CONDITIONS - Duties are performed in a variety of settings, indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions, and may involve both quiet and energetic activities. Work will require traveling to meetings, events and activities off campus and away from the Tri-Cities area. Work from home will be coordinated with and approved by the Lead Pastor. Sunday work is required.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS – Depending on qualifications, wages will be $20-$25 per hour for 20 hours a week. KFUMC pension contribution of 3% of annual salary. Paid vacation. No unemployment insurance.
