Children’s Mercy is home to the region’s only Level I pediatric trauma center. Our main ED features 38 beds, including specialized trauma, a crisis center, orthopedic, and major medical rooms. With a team of over 150 nurses and techs, 40 APRNs, and 40 physicians, we care for more than 65,000 patients annually. Dedicated family and private waiting rooms help support families during critical moments.
The Sr. Director, Emergency Services, Trauma, is responsible to support and sustain the mission and vision of the Department of Nursing, Emergency Department and Trauma Services, providing leadership for nursing practice and assuring healthy work environments. The Sr. Director, Emergency Services, Trauma leads collaborative efforts with inter-professional teams to achieve the organizations strategic priorities and to improve the patient and family experience, and patient care safety and quality. The Sr. Sr. Director, Emergency Services, Trauma, is responsible for financial, personnel, and supply resource management, managing the patient flow; and empowering others to improve processes based on patient/family needs, evidence for practice, prudent resource management.
Responsibilities:
- Directs the human, financial, and supply resources to assure patient care safety and quality and achieve targeted outcomes, within the context of the organization's strategic and financial goals.
- Acts as a role model and steward of the shared vision, mission, values, and service excellence standards of the organization and the Department of Nursing, providing leadership for nursing and professional accountability.
- Leads the application of evidence for leadership and practice improvement.
- Collaborates with organizational leaders and staff to determine and achieve the strategic priorities and tactics supporting the organization's mission and vision.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree required and 7 or more years experience evidenced ability in progressive organization and practice leadership.
- Bachelors in Nursing (BSN) required
- One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
- One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
- RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
- Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provide Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
- Specialty Nursing Certification Required Upon Hire
